What You'll Find

Cathedral Road Play Park in Armagh is a lovely one for families, especially if you're looking for a playground with a good mix of climbing equipment and inclusive play features!

Located beside Cathedral Road Recreation Centre, the playground was given a £100,000 makeover and reopened in October 2021, with lots of new equipment for children up to 14 years old.

There's plenty for little adventurers to explore, including a large adventure play structure, climbing equipment and swings.

One of the best things about this playground is the range of inclusive equipment. You'll find a wheelchair-accessible roundabout, a harness swing, a basket swing and interactive play panels, giving children with different abilities more opportunities to join in the fun.

The playground plans also included a little snail-shaped rocker, hopscotch markings and sensory panels, with things to see, touch and explore.

There's seating around the playground too, which is always handy for the grown-ups while the kids are having a play.

And if you're visiting Armagh for the day, the playground is close to the city centre, so you could easily combine a visit with a little wander around the shops or stop somewhere for lunch.

A lovely free playground with plenty of different ways for the wee ones to play!

Before You Visit

The playground is beside Cathedral Road Recreation Centre, so look out for the play area near the centre rather than heading into Armagh city centre.

The play area is fenced, which is always handy when visiting with younger children.

The playground is designed for children up to 14 years old, with a mix of equipment for different ages and abilities.

The council lists toilets inside the community centre, but I'd check whether the building will be open if you're relying on them.

There's also a teen kickabout area at the recreation centre, which could be handy if you're visiting with older children.
