Iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site where families can explore more than 40,000 dramatic basalt columns along the Atlantic coast and discover the legends of giant Finn McCool. Follow a choice of walking trails to the famous stones and formations such as the Giant’s Boot, Wishing Chair and Camel, or take in incredible views from the clifftop paths. The Visitor Centre adds interactive exhibitions, storytelling, audio guides and a café, but you can walk to and explore the Causeway stones themselves for free.
Before You Visit
Access to the stones themselves is free if you arrive independently rather than buying a visitor-centre experience, but parking and visitor-centre services are separate. The rocks can be wet and slippery, the coast is exposed, and the walk back uphill can be tiring for younger children.
Top Tips
Wear shoes with good grip and keep younger children close beside the sea. Tell the Finn McCool story before you arrive so the rock formations become part of the adventure. If you want a completely free visit, plan your parking and walking route before setting off.
