Full Description
Gortview Play Park is one of the Fermanagh & Omagh District Council play parks included in the council's upgrade programme, and it's a handy one to know about if you're on the Lisanelly side of Omagh.
The play area sits in a residential corner of the Gortview area, with open park space around it, so there's room for a play and a bit of a wander in the fresh air rather than just the equipment itself. The council's programme has been swapping older play equipment for modern multi-play units and more inclusive pieces, including wheelchair-accessible and sensory equipment. We haven't yet confirmed the exact equipment at this site, so if your wee one has a favourite, it's worth checking before you go.
One of the nice things about this one is how easy it is to make a proper outing of it. Omagh has a few play options within a short drive — Grange Park's play area is about ten minutes away on foot or a couple of minutes in the car, and Aladdins Kingdom soft play is close by too if the weather turns. The town centre, with its shops, cafés and the Strule riverside, is only a few minutes further on.
Omagh is also a brilliant base for bigger days out in Tyrone, with the Sperrins and Gortin Glen Forest Park within easy reach — so this is a lovely first stop before heading off to explore.
A free, straightforward play park that does its job well.
What You'll Find
A council play area in a residential part of Omagh, listed by the council as Gortview/Lisanelly on the Gortin Road, with open park space around it. It has been upgraded under Fermanagh and Omagh District Council's Play Strategy, the programme behind 34 play park upgrades between 2021 and 2025 and more than £3 million of investment, with every upgraded park now meeting the council's Silver or Gold standard. The town's other play options are only minutes away, so it works well as part of a trip into town.
