Playpark
Full Description
Kernan Play Park was built as a brand-new play facility by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and developed in collaboration with the local community and schools in the area, which shows in the equipment list. It caters for children and young people up to the age of 14, and it packs in a genuinely wide mix: junior and senior swings, a basket swing and a cradle swing, an inclusive roundabout, springers, spinners and play panels.
That range is the reason to choose Kernan over a standard estate playground. An inclusive roundabout matters enormously if you have a child who uses a wheelchair or needs support to join in, and having junior swings for the small ones and senior swings for the older children in the same park removes the usual compromise. A ten-year-old and a three-year-old can both be happy here at once, which is the thing parents actually mean when they ask if a park is good for families.
The council also added a range of seating so parents and guardians can settle and watch rather than perch on the edge. The play park is part of the council's £4.75 million play strategy and sits at Kernan Playing Fields on Kernan Hill Road, in the Craigavon side of the borough — an easy reach from both Portadown and Craigavon.
What You'll Find
Junior and senior swings, a basket swing and a cradle swing, an inclusive roundabout, springers, spinners and play panels, together with a range of seating for adults. Publicly accessible and free to use, at Kernan Playing Fields off Kernan Hill Road.

Before You Visit
Free to visit and open to the public. The play park is at Kernan Playing Fields, Kernan Hill Road, Craigavon (BT63 5YB), and it is designed for children and young people up to the age of 14. Parking, toilets and a café are not published for the site itself, so plan to bring drinks and snacks. This is an outdoor play park, so a windproof layer and wellies are never wasted.
