What You'll Find
Malahide Castle & Gardens blends historical charm with plenty to keep children entertained, which makes it one of the easier places to visit with kids: you get the castle grounds to walk around, but the dedicated attractions for children make all the difference.
The Fairy Trail is a real winner for little ones, a winding path through the grounds with fairy doors and installations to discover, and the Butterfly House adds a magical, up-close wildlife experience. The castle itself offers tours of the historic interior, while the extensive parkland and lawns give plenty of space to run, picnic and explore.
Grown-ups get a good deal out of it too: the Walled Garden is a beautiful formal space that's genuinely worth seeing in its own right, and you're close to Malahide village if you fancy making more of the day with lunch or a wander. Ample free on-site parking, including designated accessible spaces, makes arrival easy.
