Lisburn Light Trail in Castle Gardens

Castle Gardens is transformed again this Christmas, with the Lisburn Light Trail turning the historic gardens into a sparkling after dark walk. Illuminated installations, colourful displays and plenty of photo stops make it an easy evening out for families, and because you wander at your own pace it works just as well for a quick half hour with toddlers as a longer mooch with older children. Santa visits and live music are advertised Wednesday to Saturday during the trail, so if seeing Santa is the main event for your wee ones, aim for one of those evenings. Between the lights and the entertainment there is a lovely festive atmosphere right in the middle of Lisburn, a short walk from the city centre shops. The trail is free and there is no need to book — just turn up. It runs daily from 4pm to 8.30pm, with last entry at 8pm, from 20 November to 22 December 2026. Food and drinks from the on site vendors are charged separately, well behaved dogs on leads are welcome, and toilets are on site. Santa's times and the entertainment line up can change, so check the organiser's page before you travel.
