What You'll Find
Ballycastle Seafront Playground is a great wee spot for a family day out, especially when the sun is shining! With the playground, sandy beach and harbour all close together, there's plenty to keep the kids busy without having to move the car.
The seaside-themed playground is a lovely place to start, with climbing equipment and slides for the wee ones to enjoy. It's right beside the seafront, so once they've had their fill of the playpark, you can head down to the beach for a little paddle or some sandcastle building.
Ballycastle Beach is a beautiful stretch of sand, perfect for bringing the buckets and spades, collecting shells and letting the kids have a good dig. There's plenty of room to spread out, and on a nice day you could easily spend hours here.
The promenade is another lovely part of Ballycastle, especially if you've brought scooters or balance bikes. It's a handy flat stretch for a walk, with views across the water towards Rathlin Island.
And if your wee ones love boats, take a wander towards the marina and harbour. There's usually something interesting to watch, whether it's fishing boats, pleasure boats or the ferry heading out towards Rathlin Island.
You'll also find cafés, takeaway spots and plenty of places for an ice cream nearby, so it's easy to grab a coffee or something to eat while you're there.
It's one of those places where you can have a quick play in the playground or turn it into a full day at the seaside. Just remember the buckets and spades!

Before You Visit
The playground is close to the beach and harbour, so keep younger children close when you're walking near the water.
Bring spare clothes, towels and buckets and spades if you're planning to spend time on the beach.
The seafront can get busy during sunny weekends and school holidays, particularly around the harbour and parking areas.
The promenade is suitable for prams and scooters, although the beach itself may be harder to manage with a buggy.
