What You'll Find
Bangor Aurora is a brilliant choice for a swimming day with the kids, especially if they love waterslides! It's much more than your usual swimming pool, with a whole Leisure Waters area full of slides, waves and water play for different ages.
The Leisure Waters is definitely the main attraction. There's a wave pool where the waves come on at intervals, large flume slides and racing slides for older children who meet the height requirements.
Younger children haven't been forgotten either! There's a pirate ship with smaller slides, a multi-level water play area and shallow water where little ones can splash and explore. The leisure pool starts at ankle depth, which is particularly handy when you've got toddlers.
For bigger kids who love a challenge, there's also the Sidewinder, a water ride where you travel down on a rubber ring. It's worth checking the current restrictions before visiting.
Bangor Aurora also has a 50-metre swimming pool for regular swimming sessions, and the Aqua Challenge inflatable obstacle course runs as a separate activity. This has climbing obstacles, balance sections and slides on the water, so it's another option for older children.
There's a spacious family changing area, and you'll find a café inside the centre for something to eat or a coffee afterwards.
If you're planning a visit mainly for the slides and pirate ship, make sure you book a Leisure Waters session rather than a standard family swim. They're different activities, and you don't want to arrive expecting the flumes only to discover you've booked the wrong pool!
Wee Ones Will Love...
- ✓Exploring the pirate ship and its smaller waterslides
- ✓Splashing in the shallow water and interactive play areas
- ✓Waiting for the waves to start in the wave pool
- ✓Racing down the flumes and slides if they're tall enough
- ✓Trying the Sidewinder rubber-ring ride when eligible
Before You Visit
Book a Leisure Waters session if you want access to the pirate ship, wave pool and flumes. Ordinary swimming sessions don't necessarily include these attractions.
Children must be at least 1.2 metres tall for the main flumes and racing slides. Check the separate restrictions for other rides before booking.
Children under eight must be supervised by a responsible adult, with a maximum of two under-eights per supervising adult.
Bring a £1 coin for the lockers and 20p coins if you want to use the hairdryers.
The leisure pool gradually deepens from ankle depth to around 1.4 metres, so keep younger children close even in the family area.
⭐ Wee Adventurers Top Tips
- ⭐For younger children, head towards the pirate ship and shallow play area first. There's plenty to explore without needing to use the big slides.
- ⭐If your kids are desperate to try the flumes, check their height before booking to avoid disappointment.
- ⭐Book Leisure Waters rather than a standard swimming session if you're going specifically for the slides and waves.
- ⭐Bring a £1 coin for the locker. It's one of those little things that's easy to forget!
- ⭐There's a café inside, so you can grab lunch or a treat after swimming without having to get everyone back into the car.
