What You'll Find
Claudy Country Park is a lovely little find in County Londonderry, with a children's playpark, woodland walks and a beautiful riverside setting. And best of all, it's completely free!
The park sits within the grounds of the old Cumber House estate, which dates back to the early 1800s, and there's plenty to explore with the wee ones.
One of the highlights for families is the playpark, which is tucked away inside the old walled garden. You'll find climbing equipment, slides and swings, making it a lovely spot for the kids to have a play before heading off to explore the rest of the park.
And don't forget to take a wander through the woodland!
There are lovely paths leading down towards the River Faughan, with plenty of trees, plants and wildlife to look out for along the way. You'll also find nature information signs dotted around the trail, which are great for helping little adventurers discover what's growing and living around them.
Something we really enjoyed on our visit was stopping for a bite to eat at the café in Cumber House. The food and cakes were lovely, and they even had a box of toys to keep the kids entertained while we enjoyed a cuppa. Such a lovely little touch!
The café arrangements may have changed since our visit, so I'd definitely check what's currently open before heading off if you're hoping to stop for lunch.
Between the playpark, woodland trails and riverside walk, Claudy Country Park is a lovely spot for a family morning or afternoon out.

Before You Visit
The playground is tucked inside the former walled garden, so make sure you explore beyond the main paths to find it.
The woodland trails can become muddy after rain, so wellies or suitable shoes are a good idea.
There are nature information signs along the walking routes, making it a lovely one for children who enjoy spotting wildlife.
The café at Cumber House was a highlight of our original visit, but check the current operator and opening arrangements before relying on it for food.
Keep younger children close when walking beside the River Faughan.
