What You'll Find

If your wee adventurers have swapped the playground for scooters, skateboards or BMX bikes, Comber Skate Park is a great little spot to add to your list!

Located at Muckers Field on Upper Crescent in Comber, this free outdoor skate park has ramps and a mini ramp where children can practise their skills, learn new tricks and build their confidence.

It's a lovely option for older children and teenagers who enjoy skating or scooting, whether they're still getting the hang of things or already love tackling the ramps.

Beginners can start on the flatter areas before moving onto the ramps as they become more confident. And if your kids are anything like mine, they'll probably want to try the same trick over and over until they finally get it right!

The skate park is open to skateboarders, scooter riders and BMX riders, so it's a great place for children who enjoy being active and trying something a little different.

And one of the best things is that it's completely free, with no booking needed. Just bring their wheels and safety gear and they're ready to go!

Comber town centre is nearby too, so you could easily pop in for a coffee, lunch or a little treat afterwards.

If you're making a bigger day of it, Castle Espie Wetland Centre is just outside Comber and is another lovely family attraction, with wildlife, woodland play and plenty to explore around Strangford Lough. Castle Espie has a separate admission charge.

Wee Ones Will Love...

  • ✓Practising tricks on the ramps and mini ramp
  • ✓Bringing their scooters, skateboards or BMX bikes for a ride
  • ✓Learning new skills and building their confidence
  • ✓Watching other riders and picking up new tricks
  • ✓Enjoying a free outdoor activity with friends or siblings

Before You Visit

Bring your own scooter, skateboard or BMX bike, along with a properly fitted helmet and protective pads.

The skate park is shared by riders of different abilities, so it's worth reminding younger or less confident children to watch for others before entering the ramps.

If your child is new to skate parks, quieter times can be a good opportunity to practise without too many other riders around.

The ramps can become slippery when wet, so I'd save this one for a dry day.

It's worth checking the condition of the ramps and riding surface before the kids get started.

⭐ Wee Adventurers Top Tips

  • ⭐If your wee one is just starting out, let them practise on the flat areas first before tackling the ramps.
  • ⭐Don't forget helmets and pads! They're especially important when children are learning new tricks.
  • ⭐Bring a drink and a little snack. Once they get started, you might have a hard time convincing them it's time to leave!
  • ⭐Comber town centre is nearby, so you could grab a coffee or something to eat afterwards.
  • ⭐If you're planning a bigger family day out, you could combine a skate park visit with Castle Espie Wetland Centre, just outside Comber.
