Delamont Country Park is one of those places where you could easily spend hours with the kids! With a brilliant adventure playground, miniature railway, beautiful walks and views across Strangford Lough, there's plenty to keep everyone entertained.

One of the biggest attractions for families is the large adventure playground, which is conveniently located right beside the car park.

There's a fantastic mix of equipment for different ages, including climbing frames, slides and a small zip line. Younger children have plenty to explore, while bigger adventurers will love tackling the more challenging climbing equipment.

And if your wee ones love trains, they're in for a treat!

Delamont is home to a miniature railway that takes families on a lovely little journey through the park. It's always a favourite with younger children and a brilliant extra to add to your visit. The railway operates seasonally, so make sure to check if it's running before you go.

Once the kids have finished playing, there's so much more to discover.

The country park has beautiful walking trails through woodland and open parkland, with stunning views across Strangford Lough and towards the Mourne Mountains.

There are shorter routes for little legs and longer walks if you're feeling more adventurous. You'll also find plenty of open green space where the kids can run around, play games or enjoy a picnic.

This enormous standing stone is one of the park's most famous features and is definitely worth a look. It's a brilliant spot for a family photo, and the kids will love seeing just how huge it is!

There's also a coffee kiosk near the playground, which is always a welcome bonus when you're spending a few hours exploring.

Before You Visit

The adventure playground is right beside the car park, which is particularly handy when visiting with younger children.

The miniature railway operates seasonally and may not run every day, so check before visiting if the kids are looking forward to a ride.

There are walking routes of different lengths, so choose one that suits your children's ages. Some trails may be muddy or uneven after rain.

If you're planning to explore beyond the playground, bring suitable shoes and allow extra time for little legs.

The park is quite open in places, so an extra layer can be handy on breezy days.
