What You'll Find
Dundrum Inner Bay Play Park is a lovely little playground right beside the water in Dundrum, County Down. It's one of those handy stops where you can park up, let the wee ones have a play and enjoy some beautiful views at the same time.
The playground sits beside the causeway car park, overlooking the sheltered waters of Dundrum Inner Bay. It's enclosed by a low fence, with trees behind it and the bay just a short distance away.
Although it's a smaller playground, the setting makes it a lovely place to stop, especially if you're exploring the Dundrum area with younger children.
And there's more to see once the children have finished playing!
Dundrum Inner Bay is a lovely spot for birdwatching, with different birds feeding and resting along the shoreline. Depending on the tide, you might spot wading birds searching for food around the mudflats.
You'll also notice the impressive Twelve Arches viaduct nearby. This old railway bridge stretches across the bay and is now part of a walking route, so you can enjoy a little wander and take in the views.
And if you've got time for another adventure, Dundrum Castle sits high above the village.
It's a short uphill walk to the old Norman castle ruins, where you can explore the historic walls and enjoy beautiful views back across the bay towards the Mourne Mountains.
Dundrum village is nearby too, with cafés and places to stop for something to eat, making it easy to turn a quick playground visit into a lovely little afternoon out.
