Full Description

This is the village play park for the streets above Dundrum, tucked in off St Donard's Walk, and it is the kind of place that makes a small village work: children walk to it, play for an hour, and walk home again.

It is a straightforward neighbourhood play area with grass around it, in a quiet residential corner rather than on the tourist route, which makes it a relaxed stop with younger children away from the cars at the bay.

But you are only a few minutes from everything that makes Dundrum worth the trip. Down the hill is the inner bay, where you can watch the birds on the water and spot the Twelve Arches viaduct, and above the village stands Dundrum Castle with its view back over the bay and towards the Mournes. A play here, then a wander down to the water, then the short climb to the castle is a lovely free half day for a family.

Facilities are not published for the site, so bring drinks with you and park considerately on the surrounding streets. Dundrum's inner bay, village and castle are a short walk or drive away.
