Beautiful historic estate where families can enjoy part of the experience without paying for garden admission, including the café, pizza parlour, ice cream and little shops around the estate courtyard. The estate also has a woodland play park, and paid entry gives access to the stunning Walled Garden and estate grounds — children aged 11 and under go free with a paying adult. Seasonal opportunities to visit the castle itself, plus family events throughout the year, make it a lovely mix of play, food, exploring and heritage.
Before You Visit
There's no ticket needed for the woodland adventure play park, the tea room or the shops — you can visit, play and eat without paying garden admission.
The Walled Garden, Woodland Walk and Heritage Centre are ticketed: adult £10, concession £8.50, junior (12–17) £5, and children 11 and under go free with a paying adult. Castle tours run on selected dates and are booked separately, and the Mini Land Rover Experience and Dog Park are paid extras.
Parking is charged from 17 March to 31 October: 50p up to 1 hour, £1 up to 3 hours, £2 up to 5 hours and £3 all day. Parking is included when you buy a garden, tour or Mini Land Rover ticket, and there is no parking charge outside those dates.
Prices and opening times change with the season, so check before you travel.
