What You'll Find
Islands Park Play Park in Newcastle has had a brilliant makeover, and it's definitely one to add to your list if you're heading to Newcastle with the kids!
The newly refurbished playground has a great mix of equipment for different ages, with plenty to keep both toddlers and older children busy.
There's a large climbing frame with slides, rope climbing sections and lots of little challenges for children who love climbing. Younger ones haven't been forgotten either, with smaller play equipment, a little tunnel to crawl through and plenty of opportunities to explore.
You'll also find traditional swings, a basket swing and an in-ground trampoline, which I'm sure will be a big hit! There are even interactive play panels, including a rock-paper-scissors game, for something a little different.
The playground has safety surfacing and is fenced, which is always handy when you've got little ones who like to wander off in different directions.
And because it's right in Newcastle, you can easily make more of your visit. Have a play here first, then head into town for a coffee or a treat, or make your way down to the promenade and beach.
It's a great alternative to the busier seafront playgrounds, especially if you fancy somewhere a little different for the kids to explore.
