Full Description
Killultagh Grange Play Park is one of those neighbourhood play parks that quietly does its job. It sits off Killultagh Avenue on the Glen Road, in the Killultagh Grange area of Glenavy, County Antrim, and it is looked after by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council as part of the council's play provision across the district.
The play park came about through the council's small settlements regeneration work, which is aimed squarely at villages like Glenavy, and it was then fully refurbished in 2025 — closed from February while the work was carried out, and reopened with a fresh set of equipment in place. That matters more than it sounds: a park that has just been renewed feels different to walk into, and it tells you the council has this site on its list rather than on its backlog.
In scale it is a village park rather than a day out. Plan on half an hour, or an hour if you have two or three children working their way around everything and nowhere else to be. That is exactly what makes it useful: it is the sort of place you go after school, or on the way back from the shop, with none of the preparation a bigger trip needs. No entry fee, no ticket, no booking — the only decision is whether everyone has their shoes on.
Glenavy has more than one council play area. The council's own play area records also list one at Johnston Park, a short walk away on the other side of the village, so if you are making a proper afternoon of it there is more than one place to play.
We have kept this listing honest about the gaps. The council's records confirm the play area and its 2025 refurbishment but do not publish the individual pieces of equipment, so we have not invented a list of slides and swings. Parking, toilets and seating at the site are unconfirmed too, and we will add them as soon as we have them.

Before You Visit
You will find the play park off Killultagh Avenue on the Glen Road, in the Killultagh Grange area of Glenavy, County Antrim (postcode BT29 4LU). It is free, council-maintained and needs no booking. The play park was fully refurbished in 2025, so the equipment is new.
We have not yet confirmed toilets, baby changing, parking, seating or refreshments at this site, and the council's published records do not list the individual pieces of equipment, so please check locally if your visit depends on any of them. Parking in particular is unconfirmed — this is a residential area, so if you drive, leave the car where it will not block residents or the entrance.
It is worth a quick look at the council's play parks page before you travel in case of any temporary closure, and as at any play park, keep an eye on younger children and toddlers around the equipment.
Top Tips
- ⭐The postcode BT29 4LU takes you to Killultagh Avenue; the play park itself is just off the Glen Road in the Killultagh Grange area.
- ⭐The equipment was installed in the 2025 refurbishment, so everything should be in good order — it is worth telling the council if you do spot anything damaged.
- ⭐Glenavy's other council play area is at Johnston Park, a short walk away, so you can do both if you are travelling over specially.
- ⭐It is well placed for a quick after-school run-around; half an hour is usually plenty before appetites win.
- ⭐If you are driving, plan where you will leave the car — parking at the site is not confirmed and this is a residential street.
