What You'll Find
Sitting right on the shores of Lough Neagh, Maghery Country Park is a lovely spot to get the wee ones outdoors. With woodland walks, beautiful views across the water, a little play park and plenty of space for a picnic, there's lots to enjoy here without spending a penny!
The park covers around 30 acres, with approximately 5km of woodland walking trails to explore. It's a gorgeous setting for a family wander, with paths winding through the trees and lovely views out across Lough Neagh.
There's also a little playground that's perfect for younger children, with swings, a slide and even a sandy play area where the wee ones can enjoy a bit of digging. It's a lovely place to stop for some playtime before or after your walk.
For older children who fancy a kickabout or a game with friends, there's an all-weather games court too, so it's worth bringing a ball along!
One of the things that makes Maghery Country Park special is its location beside both Lough Neagh and the River Blackwater. You'll find jetties and a slipway here, as the park forms part of the Lough Neagh and River Blackwater canoe trails.
Looking out across the water, you might even spot Coney Island, which sits around 1km offshore. It's a fascinating little island with a history stretching back to the time of St Patrick.
There are plenty of picnic benches dotted around the park, so it's a lovely place to bring a packed lunch, enjoy the views and let the children have a good run around.
