Full Description
Museum of Free Derry is a lovely way to turn a family day out into a little journey through history and discovery. Set in Derry city, there's much more to explore than you might expect from a museum visit.
Inside and around the attraction you'll discover photographs, artefacts and first-hand accounts telling the story of the civil rights movement and Bloody Sunday. Take your time, let the children choose what catches their attention and enjoy the chance to learn something new together. With older children, it's a great opportunity to ask questions and chat about the stories behind the exhibits.
You don't have to see absolutely everything in one visit. Choosing a few areas to explore properly often works much better with little legs and short attention spans. It's a great addition to a day exploring the surrounding area, and a welcome option when the weather isn't on your side.
What You'll Find
Discover a little more of the history and story of Derry at this family-friendly heritage attraction. It’s a good option for curious children and works especially well when you want a day out with something to see, learn and talk about afterwards.
