What You'll Find
Tully Castle is a fortified house on the shore of Lower Lough Erne, built by Scottish planters in the early 1600s and burned in 1641. What's left is a walled bawn with a corner tower, standing over a quiet stretch of water near Blaney.
It's a State Care monument, looked after by the Department for Communities rather than the National Trust, and visiting is free.
There's an interactive exhibition on site that tells the story, along with a picnic area, toilets, parking, a boat jetty and the Tully Castle Walk. For children, it's a lovely place to be let loose in a real ruin: peering through empty windows, running the length of the bawn walls, and getting a sense of how remote it must have felt in the middle of winter.

Before You Visit
Visits are free. The castle's own opening is seasonal rather than all day, so check the current opening times before you travel.
This is a ruin with uneven ground, so shoes rather than sandals are the better choice.
There's no cafe on site, so bring what you need with you.
