Whiterocks Beach near Portrush is one of the most spectacular beaches on the North Coast. The long sandy shoreline is backed by towering white limestone cliffs, with caves, arches and unusual rock formations shaped by the sea over hundreds of years. It is the kind of scenery that makes a simple beach day feel like a real adventure.

There is plenty of room for building sandcastles, paddling and playing games when the tide allows. Older children will love looking at the dramatic cliffs and spotting the natural shapes along the coast, while younger ones can happily spend ages digging in the sand. The beach links towards Portrush East Strand, so a walk along the shoreline can be part of a longer seaside day.

Access includes a boardwalk, but getting onto and across the sand can still be difficult with a buggy. Check the tide before exploring near cliffs or caves, and never enter areas where the sea could cut off your route.
