What You'll Find

Cootehall Road Play Park is one of those lovely hidden gems that's well worth seeking out, especially if your wee ones love a good playground!

Tucked away in a beautiful woodland setting near Crawfordsburn Country Park, this large, fully enclosed playground has a brilliant mix of equipment for children of different ages.

There's plenty to keep the kids entertained, including climbing frames, slides, swings, tunnels, play panels and even a zip line!

Younger children can enjoy exploring the smaller equipment and interactive play panels, while older adventurers will love tackling the bigger climbing frames and having a go on the zip line.

There's also an accessible roundabout, which is a lovely addition, and the soft safety surface is handy for little ones who are still finding their feet.

One of the things I love about this playground is the setting. It's surrounded by trees, with plenty of benches for the grown-ups and space to enjoy a picnic when the weather's nice.

And you don't have to stop at the playground!

You're close to Crawfordsburn Country Park, with beautiful woodland trails to explore, and Helen's Bay Beach is another lovely option if you're making a bigger day of it.

There are some great cafés around Crawfordsburn too, so you could easily combine the playground with a woodland walk and a coffee stop.

It's a brilliant little park for a quick play, but with so much nearby, you could easily turn it into a lovely family day out!

Before You Visit

The walk down from the car park to the playground is quite steep, so take extra care if you're bringing a buggy or little ones on scooters.

The playground is fully enclosed, which is always a bonus when visiting with younger children.

There's a mixture of equipment for different ages, so it's a good option if you've got younger and older children together.

If you're planning to explore the woodland trails afterwards, bring suitable shoes, especially after wet weather.

There's plenty of seating around the playground, and it's a lovely spot to bring a picnic on a dry day.
