What You'll Find
If you've got older children who love their bikes, scooters or skateboards, Dunleath Urban Sports Park in Downpatrick is a great place to know about!
Located within Dunleath Park, this free outdoor sports facility has an 80-metre pump track and a dedicated skatepark, giving children somewhere to practise their skills and try something a little more adventurous.
The pump track has a series of bumps and banked bends, where riders can practise using their balance and momentum to make their way around the course. It's a lovely way for children to build their confidence as they get used to riding over the different features.
Beside the pump track, you'll find the skatepark, with ramps, grind rails and other features for practising tricks.
Whether your children prefer BMX bikes, scooters or skateboards, there's a good mix of riding areas to explore.
The facility was developed as part of a £500,000 investment and is designed for children aged seven and over, so it's particularly suited to older adventurers who have outgrown the traditional playground.
And there's more to Dunleath Park than just the sports facilities.
You'll also find walking paths, playing fields and open green space, so you can enjoy a little wander while visiting.
The park can be accessed from St Patrick's Avenue, where an accessible ramp provides an entrance to the facilities.

Before You Visit
The urban sports park is designed for children aged seven and over and is not a traditional playground for toddlers.
Bring a properly fitted helmet and suitable protective equipment, particularly for children who are still building their confidence.
The pump track and skatepark are shared spaces, so remind children to watch out for other riders and take turns.
Children who are new to pump tracks should begin with features suited to their ability before attempting more challenging sections.
