Full Description

Slieve Gullion is one of those forest parks where the children won't want to leave! The adventure playground is fantastic, with a huge tower and tube slide, a separate toddler area, a zip line, maze and even a wishing chair. There is plenty for different ages, so it's worth allowing lots of time for play before heading off to explore the forest.

The Giant's Lair is what makes this place feel extra magical. Follow the trail into a living storybook filled with miniature doors, dragons, giants and witches inspired by local myths and legends. It's just under a mile, but there are hills and uneven sections, so it can take longer than you'd expect with younger children. A baby carrier or sling is a much better option than relying on a buggy for the whole route.

Beyond the story trail, the Ring of Gullion landscape is beautiful, with woodland walks and a scenic drive for families who want to enjoy the views without a big hike. Between the playground and the Giant's Lair, this really is a full family adventure.

The adventure playpark has a specially designed toddler area alongside adventure and play equipment for older children, plus the Slieve Gullion ZIP and a trim trail that grown-ups can use too.
