Donaghadee Seafront is a brilliant spot for a family day out, especially when the sun is shining! With a lovely playground, paddling pool, rocky shoreline and beautiful harbour, there's plenty to keep the wee ones entertained.

One of the biggest attractions for families is Lemons Wharf Play Area, located right along the seafront.

The playground has had a lovely makeover, with a fantastic mix of equipment for different ages, including slides, climbing frames and interactive play features.

The kids will love the pirate ship slide and castle-themed climbing equipment! There's plenty for younger children to explore, while bigger adventurers can tackle the more challenging climbing structures.

And right beside the playground is Donaghadee's famous paddling pool!

This has been a favourite with local families for generations, and it's such a lovely addition during the warmer months. When it's open, the wee ones can splash about in the shallow water, so don't forget their swimming costumes and towels!

The shoreline here is rocky rather than sandy, making it a brilliant spot for a little rock pooling.

Bring a bucket and see what shells, crabs and other little seaside creatures the kids can discover among the rocks. Just remember to put any creatures back where you found them!

There's also a lovely level promenade, perfect for a wander with the buggy or for little ones on scooters.

Follow it towards Donaghadee Harbour and the famous lighthouse, where the kids can watch the boats coming and going and enjoy the beautiful views across the water.

And one of the best things about Donaghadee is that the town is just a short walk away!

You'll find plenty of lovely cafés, ice cream shops and places to grab something to eat, making it easy to spend a few hours here without needing to move the car.

Between the playground, paddling pool, rocky shore and harbour, Donaghadee Seafront is a brilliant free family outing, especially on a sunny day!

Before You Visit

The paddling pool is seasonal, so check whether it's open before promising the kids a splash.

Bring swimming costumes, towels and a change of clothes if you're planning to use the pool.

The shoreline is rocky rather than sandy, so sturdy shoes or suitable water shoes are a good idea for rock pooling.

The promenade is level and handy for buggies, but the rocks along the shore are uneven and can be slippery.

Keep younger children close around the paddling pool, harbour and open water.
